August 5th

In the morning, I
will read only one haiku
and in these words: live

August 22nd

Before you triumph
you must nurture failure, as
your mother cared for you

September 1st

My hands ache in the cold
for this I am thankful
I know they are still there

September 23rd

The houses stand on out there
and look on one another
and approvingly, they scowl

September 24th

Hear: the eagle screech
and on my sister's one day,
the messes of men

September 29th

In every ripple
I see my life reflected
each one, me again

October 8th

Take this crow feather
drive to Georgia for the wake
a gift for my great uncle

October 10th - A

Thank you for coming
under this crow-speckled sky
we can sit and talk

October 10 - B

Look at the water
remember your father’s advice
peace – hard won, but worthy.

October 15th

A sunken tree punctures the water
like my mother’s words
escaping my mouth
